What We’re Looking Forward To at London Design Week

Spring has finally arrived here in London, and we’re looking forward to celebrating the new design season with a visit to London Design Week at Design Centre Chelsea Harbour this week.

This five-day exhibition sees some of the world’s most influential brands launching new collections, as well as pop-ups, talks, and panel discussions featuring industry leaders. Interior designers including Kit Kemp, Rose Uniacke and Matilda Goad join regular DCCH exhibitors for a fun and fascinating showcase of what’s coming up in the world of design.

Nina Campbell

Nina Campbell

We have enjoyed working with Nina Campbell, one of the world’s pre-eminent interior designers, over the years on a number of projects including the Birch Grove Estate and the Front Hall at the Savoy Hotel. Nina also asked us to fit out her shop on Milner Street, converting a Grade II-listed building with a showroom, offices and flats. We were also privileged to work on Nina’s own home refurbishment.

We’re looking forward to visiting the Osborne & Little space on the first day of the fair for a preview of Nina’s upcoming collection for Farnaz, influenced by the elegance of the Silk Road and reimagined for the modern home.

Rose Uniacke

LA London are working with interior designer Rose Uniacke on a current residential project, so we’re excited for the launch of her new fabric collection at this year’s show.

Known for the simplicity and sophistication of her designs, Rose is featured as a House Guest on the centre’s Design Avenue this year. Her collection comprises 40 new organic fabrics, including textured linens, wool velvets and linen-wool blends of the highest quality.

Grow Your Business: Retail Spaces Reimagined

With experience renovating and fitting out spaces in prestigious department stores including Harrods and Selfridges, we’ll be interested to join this panel discussion on designing a thoughtful and inspiring store interior.

LA’s Perrier-Jouët Champagne Terrace at Harrods

The panel features Lewis Taylor, design director of David Collins Studio, with whom we worked for several years at Harrods. Lewis is joined by Catarina Kohut, associate at Tuckey Design Studio, and Tom Bartlett, co-founder of Waldo Works for a discussion about storytelling, layout, function and a sense of place in retail spaces. The conversation looks set to offer insights into creating an in-store experience that rivals the convenience of doorstep deliveries.

Designing for Wellbeing

Having identified dedicated wellness spaces as one of the key trends we can expect in design and architecture this year, we were interested to see wellbeing as the subject of this panel discussion at Flexform on Wednesday 12th March.

Hosted by Elizabeth Choppin, editor-in-chief of Design Anthology UK, the discussion will look at how interior designers can create spaces that benefit both the mind and the body. Carly Sweeney, director of Universal Design Studio, Guy Ivesha, CEO of hospitality group Maslow’s, and interior designer Tatjana von Stein will discuss design for wellbeing in the retail, residential and hospitality sectors.

Dressing the Home

The final day of the show features a panel discussion moderated by Carole Annett, interiors editor at Country & Town House. Guest speakers Matilda Goad, Pandora Taylor and Deborah Fiddy will debate the question of whether fashion influences interior design – or interiors inspire fashion.

Having worked with some of the most innovative and influential interior designers in the business, we’re firmly in the latter camp, of course!
