MEET THE TEAM: CRISTIAN TUDOSE
In the latest in our series aimed at revealing a bit more behind the faces of the Lees Associates team, we chat with Architectural Assistant Cristian Tudose.
What got you into architecture originally?
I knew I wanted to study architecture right from the beginning of high school. I always had an affinity for arts and for how things are built. I think that architecture is the one subject which combines both. And I was always fascinated by historical buildings and all the beauty that lies in their design.
Describe your role at Lees Associates
I am a Part II Architectural Assistant. Besides pitching in wherever I am needed, after joining the team I soon became the in-house photographer, and by doing this I manage to combine two of my greatest passions: photography and architecture.
Where do your particular passions, skills and interests lie?
Lees Associate is the perfect starting point for me in my professional career as I am able to work within incredible historical buildings, bringing them back to life.
As previously mentioned, one of my greatest passions is photography, a hobby which I took up after my father, who is a photographer, and I believe that it works hand in hand with architecture. One of the things that I love about photography is the fact that it allows me to capture the world through the prism of my creativity, immortalising subjects, moments and events.
What do you enjoy most about what you do?
In short, everything! I get to work in an amazing office and a great environment, surrounded by energetic, knowledgeable people. It is an environment where I feel that I can strive to be a better me, learn, evolve and develop my passions and skills while bringing my contribution to the team.
Which project are you most proud of?
The penthouse in Belgravia that I am currently working on is the project that I am most proud of. I have been able to start at an early stage and I feel I have managed to make my mark on it. It has also given me the opportunity to discover the challenges of a complex super-prime project and how to work closely with all the parties involved. I can’t wait to go on site and see it start to take shape.
What are your plans for the future?
For the near future I would like to learn as much as I can from all the amazing people at Lees Associates and get more involved in projects by taking on more responsibility. In order to fulfil my goal of becoming a chartered architect, in the near future I want to get enrolled onto the RIBA Part III course. As a photographer I would like to take advantage of the amazing projects which are designed in our office, to immortalise them.
