MEET THE TEAM: MEGAN BURROWS
In the next of our regular ‘Meet the Team’ series, we talk to international sportswoman and Architectural Technician Megan Burrows.
What got you into architecture originally?
I have been interested in Architecture for as long as I can remember. I used to collect floor plans from newspapers when I was younger and redraw them by hand. Throughout college I studied graphic design and my passion grew from there.
Describe your role at Lees Associates.
I am an Architectural Technician so I help draw construction drawings and technical details for projects.
Where do your particular passions, skills and interests lie?
I love travelling and exploring new places. I spent three months traveling around Europe before my move to London and it was an amazing experience, visiting countries with different styles of architecture and history. I also enjoy meeting new people and sport.
What do you enjoy most about what you do?
I find it very satisfying helping to bring a client’s dream to reality, taking their ideas and concepts and gradually developing through the stages of life to eventually bring it life.
Which project are you most proud of?
I independently worked on a large scale renovation project where a residential dwelling was built on top of a commercial shed. This was understandably very complex and a lot of technical knowledge was required to complete the drawings. I have also completed construction drawings for national award-winning designs.
Tell us something interesting about yourself.
I have spent the last seven years competing internationally for New Zealand in both Underwater Hockey and Triathlon.
