Our Autumn Event Highlights
Early autumn is always a busy time for us at LA London. The industry is buzzing after the summer break, with plans to be shared and connections to be re-established after what’s typically a quieter couple of months in July and August. Not only that, but we also host an annual party for clients, partners and colleagues on our sunny roof terrace in the first week of September.
Here are some of the other industry events we’re looking forward to in London over the next few months:
Enzo Mari at the Design Museum
Design Museum, until 8 September
This retrospective pays tribute to the famous Italian artist and designer, whose work has had such a profound impact on the evolution of design. Curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist, artistic director at the Serpentine Galleries, with Francesca Giacomelli, the exhibition explores Mari’s 60-year career and features furniture, books, graphic design and installations.
Bio-Spaces
Roca London, until 30 September
Bio-Spaces: Regenerative, Resilient Futures is an exhibition exploring biodiversity, bio-based materials and bioregenerative design. It takes place at Roca London Gallery in Fulham, an extraordinary space designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, which has been broken up into themed islands for the purposes of the show.
The exhibition uses images and sound to explore buildings that replenish local ecosystems and furniture that ‘grows itself’. One to get the creative juices flowing!
Material Matters
Bargehouse, Oxo Tower Wharf, 18–21 September
Based on the podcast of the same name, the Material Matters fair brings together global brands, designers and makers to celebrate materials, exploring how they shape society. Through talks and displays, it demonstrates the importance of material intelligence and investigates how the design industry can improve its environmental credentials.
Taking place at the atmospheric, five-storey Bargehouse in the Oxo Tower Wharf development on the South Bank, Material Matters is a great chance to meet other people from the world of design and architecture to exchange ideas and opportunities.
Decorex 2024
Kensington Olympia, 6 – 9 October
A key diary date for the interior design industry, Decorex is a four-day event that plays host to some of the world’s top designers and brands including lighting, textiles, flooring, fabrics and wallcoverings suppliers.
Now in its 46th year, Decorex is a fun and inspiring way to meet collaborators and contacts, and to learn about new products and innovations from the world of design.
PAD London 2024
Berkeley Square House, London, UK, 8 – 13 October
PAD (Pavilion of Art and Design) is an art fair held annually in both Paris and London, where it takes place in Berkeley Square. It’s the UK’s only art fair dedicated to 20th-century and contemporary design, with exhibitors including artists, galleries and designers.
We’re looking forward to browsing fascinating works of contemporary art and design, including furniture, sculpture and paintings, at this inspiring event in the heart of well-heeled Mayfair.
Frieze London
Regent’s Park, 9 – 13 October
A highlight of the capital’s cultural calendar, Frieze London features works from more than 160 galleries from around the world in a beautiful space designed by architect Annabelle Seldorf. It includes a free outdoor sculpture show in Regent’s Park as well as exhibitions, presentations and talks. Frieze Masters, meanwhile, presents significant artworks from the past from a modern-day viewpoint.
LAPADA London
Berkeley Square, 22 – 27 October
Another fair taking place in beautiful Berkeley Square this autumn, LAPADA is hosted by London’s Association of Art & Antique Dealers. The event brings together over 100 exhibitors, from jewellery dealers to bookshops.
With prices ranging from £500 to over £500,000, LAPADA has a large committee that vets every item to validate its authenticity. We’re looking forward to discovering rare and unique items including furniture, carpets, tapestries, clocks and ceramics.
