Project Completion: Kensington Townhouse

LA London are delighted to have recently delivered the full refurbishment of an elegant Kensington townhouse for a private client. Purchased for use as a pied à terre by an international family, the four-bedroom 1980s home is located in the heart of London’s museum district.

Partner, Kathryn Archer and Associate, Cristian Tudose led the project for LA London, working closely with interior designers, Accouter. The main contractors were Project One, and Gibson Integration delivered audio-visual features.

Beginning in November 2022, LA Surveys carried out a full survey of the property, after which the work took place over a period of just over a year and included remodelling and re-organising rooms, renovating four bathrooms to a luxury standard, adding a bar and installing air conditioning and underfloor heating. LA London also oversaw landscaping work in the rear garden.

The interior refurbishment included new lighting, joinery, stonework and panelling throughout, as well as a striking feature ceiling, designed by Accouter, in the dining room. The bathrooms are fitted out in luxurious marble, while the living areas combine soft fabric finishes with natural materials to provide a feeling of contemporary comfort and luxury.

While the house was built relatively recently, the existing plumbing and electrics were outdated and eccentric, which presented challenges throughout the refurbishment. As the complexity and extent of the work evolved, the LA London team took proactive steps to devise thoughtful solutions while adhering to the original budget and timeframe.

The team worked closely with the client throughout the project to ensure all details were finished to the highest standard, reflecting both the client’s cultural background and their personal taste. The remodelling work seamlessly incorporates technology to deliver the highest level of comfort and convenience, while preserving the building’s beautiful original features and character.

In the garden, landscaping work included clearing the existing overgrown area and installing new hard finishes and low-maintenance planters. A large condenser to power the air conditioning within the home was fitted at the rear of the garden and concealed behind a composite screen.

LA London’s meticulous refurbishment has resulted in an elegant and comfortable family home that perfectly complements modern city life.
